Welcome to our Winter Wonderland

It's officially winter in the South West!

While we love our sunshine-filled summers, winter brings a different kind of magic to the region. From misty mornings and vibrant green landscapes; to local red wines, starlit skies and cosy fires; it's the season to explore a different kind of wonder.

Now the weather has cooled down, it’s time to rug up, chill out, and make the most of our winter wonderland!

1.      First things first – cosy accommodation. There’s nothing quite as inviting as curling up beside a cosy fireplace with a Margaret River wine in hand. At Luxury Breaks South West we have a beautiful selection of holiday homes in Dunsborough, Yallingup, Eagle Bay, Busselton and surrounds. From beachside to rural, large homes to cosy cottages, pet-friendly to family friendly, and over 20 homes with wood fireplaces; you’ll feel right at home in one of our holiday homes for your getaway.

2.      Local Wine Bars – Winter and red wine go hand in hand.  If you’re like us and your South West adventures revolve around eating and drinking, then a visit to one of Dunsborough’s cosy wine bars should be high on your must-do list. We love Dunn Bay Continental Wine Store & Bar, Wayfinder, Bungalow Social, Lady Lola and Yarri Restaurant – all serving up delicious local wines and yummy bites.

3.      Truffle Season – the world's most exquisite mushroom grows in abundance in the South West! Each year during the winter weeks, fresh black truffles are ripe, wildly aromatic and ready for hunting! You’ll find the addition of truffles to the menu at many local wineries, restaurants and breweries. We also recommend visiting The Margaret River Truffle Farm who provide intimate truffle hunt experiences and truffle products right here in the Margaret River region.

4.      Whale Watching - Winter is the perfect time to go whale watching in Dunsborough. From June to December, Humpback whales and Southern Right whales migrate along the coast, providing a breathtaking spectacle for visitors. Whale watching tours depart from Dunsborough and take you out into the open ocean to witness these majestic creatures up close.

5.      Cabin Fever (12-21st July 2024) - Cabin Fever is back this year with more than 40 events from Busselton to Margaret River and everywhere in between! Escape to a world of indulgence over 10 fun filled winter days of bonfires, wine, blues bands and beer! Tickets can be purchased via cabinfeverfest.com.au.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful region this winter!
